The long-awaited summer holidays are here and the enthusiasm just as much as was built would seem like fading out as days get longer and boring.  While you’re conventionally on a break over the holidays, so it’s easy to get into a lethargic mode where you goof around doing nothing with your days, letting them mesh into one long continual nap fest. Is this what you’re wanting in this vacation too? Hopefully the answer would be no. Don’t worry!  This vacation could be the perfect opportunity to invest your time cogently and at the same time to have fun, nevertheless which has little to do with the scorching sun and the constantly rising temperature. Wondering how? As a matter of fact, we’ve compiled a handy list of helpful suggestions of things you could, should and will likely want to do over your holiday break.

1 (1)   Catch up on your reading: When was the last time you picked up a book because it looked interesting and then got lost into it?
What we’re suggesting here is the kind of reading you actually enjoy – not your required reading for college. Read a novel about 18th century England. Pickup a biography of a famous scientist. Or maybe the books that could be helpful/beneficial for you. It could vary from what you’re studying (management, medicine, any career related books) kind of books to some really great self-help books. After all, the more you read, the more knowledge you gain. So,Happy Reading!

2 (2)   Enroll in some preparation or enrichment courses: In case you're staying in India like me, then summers can be the most dreadful time to go out and attend classes. Instead, enroll yourself for an online (maybe educational) course, and learn something you have always wanted to. Playing guitar, Digital marketing, designing, painting, even topics related to your work/school and what not are easily available on the web. Websites like Coursera, Udemy consisting of thousands of courses is also a great opportunity to learn something new in your down time without all the regular pressure of a paid course.

3 (3)   Earn and learn: If you devoted all your time to college work during the semester, then take the advantage of your break to build up your bank account by pocketing some extra money. A lot of companies offer internships for college students who are earnest to get working and help them out temporarily. You can even check out some amazing internships at Internshala, Letsintern or Hellointern for the same. You can also use your ability for tutoring students by whatever subject or subjects you are strong at. Or maybe hone your writing skills by blogging. Or maybe even write a code to pocket some gains.

4 (4)   Improving Physical Health: College vacation is the perfect opportunity to invest more time in improving health. Start by sleeping well, exercising regularly, and eating healthily, or even better, create any hobby like dancing, basketball, athletics, zumba, meditation and the list goes on and on. Not only you’ll look better but more importantly you’ll feel better.

5 (5)   Volunteering: Volunteer work can also provide an amazing experience for college students and at the same time it looks spectacular on the resumes, being cherry on the cake. There are tons of places that rely on the time and attention of volunteers. Consider helping out at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen, participating in a river cleanup with an environmental group, or driving blind people on their errands. One can also join an NGO like Smile Foundation, Robin Hood Army, Picture Vala, etc. and hone their strengths and skills at the same time.
